May 29, 2019 Update - Review Schedule, To Be Read Status and more.

Hello everyone,

If you have been following me on Twitter, you might have noticed that I’ve been under the weather. Mostly, I’m having severe headache problems.  I’m not going to get too detailed here, but headaches are the worst kind of thing for a book reviewer. Sometimes they hurt so bad, it aches to blink my eyes.

The thing is, I do this for free and out of love for writers and for the reading community as well. Yes, I get some donations to help me buy books, but mostly I buy them myself. The issue is with reading constantly. five books a week every week for months has taken a toll on my head as it seems.

I did a lot of reflection on what may be causing them. I looked back on my Goodreads catalog and I have read and reviewed 95 books this year. It’s not even June, and I’m 5 books away from my year goal of 100 books read and reviewed.

That my friends are a lot of books.

I still have a large pile to get through, and I want to finish them all. I realize I got myself into a pickle with my To Be Read and review list in the state it is. It’s sometimes difficult for me to decline things. One of the big stumbling blocks I caused,  I’d agree to a review for an author, but did not specify that I’d review one book only. There are some cases that I had agreed to reading 3-5 books for someone. In a couple of cases, these books are over 500 pages each.  I caught this situation later, but the front part of the to be read pile is stacked with piles of books that I need to get through.

So, in an effort to read and review more efficiently, and spare my head the pains, I’m going to cut my reviews down to Monday, Wednesday and Friday. This gives me more time for some of the 500+ paged books that are coming up, and it allows me a chance to read and review without so much pain. It also will help me not get in these periods where I need to take breaks because of headaches.

Additionally, I need more time to rest my head. I’m going to take a break from now until June 17. After that, reviews will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Stay tuned my friends. This not only allows me more time to read and review, but it may also allow me more time to interact with those of you who write. I will also get a chance to edit my own book which I’ve wanted to do for some time, and work on a new segment of interviews with writers.

As far as when I’ll be done with my TBR, I believe this will help me get done by August or September if all goes well.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding! I cannot begin to tell you all how much I appreciate you.
